'This book on Heat and Mass Transfer meant for the undergraduate students of mechanical engineering explains the core concepts in detail using a lot of diagrams showing flow paths for mass, energy, and work transfer rates. Mathematical analyses of the systems have been done from the basic principles in steps, with the equations well elaborated. Effect of the design parameters on performance of the system have been presented graphically. The content of this book not only covers the syllabus taught in most of the engineering colleges but also the syllabus of the competitive examinations such as GATE and Engineering Services. Some special topics are included in the book, which will help students undertake mini-projects leading to the research and design-oriented jobs and also help in pursuing higher education and in facing national and international level competitions. Although this book is written for the students of mechanical engineering, it is also useful to other branches of engineering like electrical, chemical and petrochemical.
' All concepts are explained through diagrams showing flow paths of heat and mass in all directions including the measurable properties such as temperature, pressure, and velocity. Step-by-step solutions to all equations while doing the mathematical analyses of the various systems. Effects of the design parameters on performance of the system have been presented graphically, which helps the students analyze the  context meaningfully. Some advanced topics with numerical solutions have been given. This will help students undertake mini-projects leading to research and design oriented jobs. Some of these topics are Heat Pipe Surface with Fixed End Temperatures Natural Convection Boiling Similarity Solutions for Wedge Flows Transpiration Cooling Thermal Analysis of Solar Water Heater and Solar Stills
