This textbook refreshingly offers a storied approach to statistics, working through examples and everyday lived experiences to explain statistical concepts. The stories depict the nature of numbers, the ways in which numbers offer us tools to grasp the world around us, and the possible uses of numbers in our everyday navigation of the world. This narrative-based approach is complemented by step-by-step guidance on the various tools to be used for statistical analyses. The book offers an aesthetic that celebrates creativity while grappling with data. Such an approach will draw in both undergraduate and graduate students, teaching them to engage with concepts of probability, estimation, prediction, experimentation, and so on, with excitement. The dialogic approach that is woven in throughout the book is likely to promote critical thinking, gently pushing students to engage with numbers in finding solutions emergent from the empirical.

Statistics has gained more importance as it forms the base for the study of Data Analytics, which has become one of the most required disciplines in the industry. Decision-making by industry leaders is based on data analysis. This book is a good compilation for understanding the application of statistics and its implications in day-to-day functioning.
